Welcome back to the Springboard Corner, where we highlight and share recent milestones of life science and hi-tech startups which we have worked with through Connect\u2019s Springboard program. It\u2019s sure been a funky monsoon summer in San Diego this year, but that has not stopped Springboard companies from continuing to innovate and grow.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest from Connect\u2019s Springboard companies!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cooler Heads<\/span><\/a> – founded in 2018, Cooler Heads has developed the first portable and FDA-approved cold cap, Amma, to help cancer patients keep their hair while undergoing chemotherapy. They recently were successful in being awarded a $2M SBIR Ph-2 grant from the National Cancer Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Fuse Integration<\/span><\/a> – an innovative communications and computing solutions company for our nation\u2019s warfighter, we showcased them previously in the Springboard Corner. Fuse and\u00a0 Raytheon Missiles and Defense recently entered into a formal DoD Mentor-Prot\u00e9g\u00e9 agreement. The program, sponsored by the Missile Defense Office of Small Business Programs, aims to develop partnerships between large companies and startups to help them better succeed in securing government contracts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Independa<\/span><\/a> – a leader in innovative solutions to remotely connect with an array of healthcare providers and solutions via their home TV, Independa has received the bronze award for the 2022 Most Innovative Product of the Year in the Healthcare and Medical Category by Best in Biz Award International. Now in its 10th year, Best in Biz Awards International is the only global business awards program where prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications from around the world judge all the entries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Inhibrx<\/span><\/a> – a clinical stage biotech company, and previously highlighted in the last blog, Inhibrx has been granted orphan medicinal product designation by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The designation is for INBRX-109, a potential treatment for chondrosarcoma, a very rare bone cancer for which there is currently no treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Nascent Biotech<\/span><\/a> – a clinical stage biopharma company, we previously highlighted their clinical trial progress for Pritumumab, their lead candidate. They now\u00a0 have received a Notice of Allowance by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as it relates to some of Pritumumab\u2019s claims. This is a big step forward towards getting their patent application granted, which is anticipated to be forthcoming.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

PlusMusic<\/span><\/a> – A music technology company, PlusMusic was founded in 2016 to expand and monetize music for easy integration in social media clips, games, streaming video and other technologies. With four granted patents, their music library has since grown to almost 9,000 original songs, with all music being fully cleared. They recently closed their $2.125M seed round and have developed a beta version of their plug-and-play platform for soundtracking games which will launch very shortly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inc. Magazine recently released its annual Inc. 5000 List for 2022<\/a>. Driven by data, each year this list provides a ranking of the fastest growing companies in the country. We congratulate the following Springboard companies which made the cut this year:<\/span><\/p>\n

Avacen Medical<\/span><\/a> – has developed a pain management medical device which is drug-free, FDA-cleared, non-invasive, and available over-the-counter. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Doctible<\/span><\/a> – has developed a communication platform for patients to easily find and engage with a network of health providers. This marks the third year for the company to join the Inc. 5000 List. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

MD Revolution<\/span><\/a> – has developed a digital healthcare platform for patients to better manage their chronic health care and improve the patient and caregiver engagement. <\/span><\/p>\n
